Couples are highly recommended to purchase event insurance for peace of mind!

What would happen in the case of an emergency?

We understand that emergencies are never planned, and our hearts go out to couples who face the unexpected. This is exactly why we highly recommend every couple secure wedding insurance. Wedding insurance is designed to protect your investment in the event of circumstances beyond your control — such as death, serious deadly illness, or military deployment.

For clarity, an “emergency” in our policy refers to these types of significant, documented life events. It does not include situations such as a change of heart, separation, or scheduling conflicts.

What if the wedding gets called off due to separation?

If the wedding is canceled due to separation or a change of heart, the retainer fee and payments are non-refundable, as these do not constitute an emergency under our policy or any wedding insurance policy.

What if something happens to one of us causing serious injury or even loss of life?

In the event of a serious injury or loss of life, we understand that priorities shift. While the initial retainer remains non-refundable, payments made beyond the retainer may be applied toward a future event, such as a Celebration of Life. These are the types of unexpected emergencies often covered by wedding and event insurance, which is why we strongly encourage every couple to consider purchasing coverage.

Wedding and event insurance helps protect your investment and provides peace of mind — ensuring that your financial commitment is safeguarded, even if circumstances change.

For clarity and transparency, we review insurance recommendations in your contract, during tastings, throughout planning meetings (if in-house coordination is selected), and again at your final walkthrough.

Does Wedding Insurance Cover a Change of Heart?

Wedding insurance is designed to protect couples from unforeseen and unavoidable events — things that no one could reasonably plan for or prevent, like death, serious illness, military deployment, or natural disasters.

A “change of heart,” on the other hand, is considered a personal choice, not an unexpected event. Insurance is meant to cover risks outside of your control, not decisions that are within your control. This distinction is why retainer fees for weddings are generally non-refundable, and why wedding insurance policies explicitly exclude coverage for situations such as:

  • Ending the engagement or breaking up
  • Choosing to postpone or cancel for convenience
  • Changing your mind about the venue, date, or services

What would happen if something were to happen with the business (natural disaster, bankruptcy, etc)?

While we are committed to operating our business responsibly and safeguarding client investments, if a venue were to cease operations unexpectedly, there may be limitations on refunds due to financial realities.

Wedding insurance is designed for exactly this type of scenario — it can cover losses that neither you nor the venue can control. This is why we strongly encourage every couple to secure wedding insurance, so your investment is protected against truly unforeseen circumstances.

Would any money put into it be completely lost?

The retainer fee and monies paid are strictly non-refundable, as they secure your event date and prevent us from booking other clients. In the event of a documented emergency (such as death, military deployment, or a life-threatening illness), the Venue will make every reasonable effort to reschedule the event for another event. Such considerations are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Please note: rescheduling due to deployment may only be accommodated on select dates.

In cases such as separation or change of plans, all payments made are non-refundable, as these do not fall under the definition of an emergency. Wedding insurance is the best way to ensure your investment is protected against true unforeseen circumstances.

Would we have to continue to put money towards it even if the wedding doesn’t occur?

We have a cancellation clause where you can cancel the wedding without any additional money owed 160 days from your contracted event, and no additional money is owed. Please note, any cancellations outside of death, deployment, serious deadly illness) is not covered by insurance. Please know, that outside of death, deployment and illness refunds are not applicable in its entirety.

Wedding insurance is the best way to ensure your investment is protected against true unforeseen circumstances.

We understand that life is unpredictable, which is why we encourage couples to ask these important questions. Our policies are designed to balance compassion with fairness: the retainer fee secures your date and are non-refundable, but additional payments may be refunded in true life-changing emergencies by your insurance company. This is also why we recommend wedding & event insurance. While it does not cover a change of heart, it does provide protection for death, deployment, serious illness, and other unforeseen circumstances.

When purchasing event insurance, you may choose any reputable provider that meets venue requirements. Some commonly used wedding insurance companies include Wedsure, Progressive, Markel, BriteCo, and WedSafe.

We also partner with The Event Helper, a convenient and trusted option for many of our clients. You are welcome to use The Event Helper or any insurance provider of your choice.

When securing coverage, please list Chandelier Event Venue as the additional insured partner on your policy to ensure proper documentation and venue compliance.
